Hi, I’m Cyndi Lanier!

I am a nature printer and artist currently living in the Panhandle of Florida. For me, art is a creative journey, an exploration of many paths. The knowledge of everything I learn along the way, deepens the experience of the present and adds to my work. I have explored pastels, photography, nature printing, watercolor, and most recently oil painting.

The majority of my current work involves nature printing. It is no surprise that my favorite subjects in school were art and biology!  I love the way nature printing captures the smallest details, the vein of a leaf, the scale pattern on a fish, or the patterns made by the overlapping layers on a sea oat! I am intrigued by these shapes and patterns designed by “The Great Creator” and this is what inspires me to capture those details in exacting detail through nature printing but that is only where the art begins.  After using oil based ink to capture the initial images, additional papers are dyed by hand to create the organic abstract and watery backgrounds.  These papers are layered and mounted to cradled wood panels or canvas and then finished using watercolor, pastel and inks to bring each piece to life. When completed, they are sealed with several layers of protective varnish.
